These are the sounds of the ocean at a depth of 10 feet off the Northeastern coast of Floreana, an island that was formed by a now-extinct volcano. GPS coordinates -1 degree 13' 41.77" South, -90 degrees, 21' 54.86" West. We took a zodiac from the National Geographic Endeavor in search of Cetacean clicks or whistles. The new hydrophone (Cetacean Research Technology, www.cetaceanresearch.com was attached to my Marantz PMD 661 digital sound recorder (44.1 KHz). Despite our several attempts, we only heard the sound of the ocean. Of course, we ran into a pod of Dolphins (about 150) on Christmas day but, did not have the equipment set up off the Zodiac.
